Our Service - Film Recording (Filmout)

Film Recording is the exposing of any image onto raw film stock. The image can be any digital file such as: .CIN, .JPG, .TIF, .BMP, .MOV, .AVI, .FLA, .SWF, etc. that can be produced from any 2D or 3D animation system, paintbox program, or video editting or effects program. Any program that produces animation and graphics can save the animation sequence as a series of files that are the "single frames" of the animation sequence, or as one file, such as Flash (.FLA, .SWF), QuickTime .MOV and Windows .AVI files, (even custom codecs, AVID,and HDBOXX).

These files are stored onto a media such as DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, DLTtape, or hard drives. These media are sent to our San Diego facility, when you request a transfer job from us. Also, some file sets can be emailed directly to our facility (when they are less than 10 MegaBytes). We support WinZip (ask about other compressors).

At the San Diego facility, we record your data files onto 35mm film and produce a print that can be viewed on a motion picture screen. We record frame resolutions of 2K and 4K, and we can blowup smaller resolutions before recording them. We also transform any digital: CGI, etc. to Cinemascope, by digitally squeezing then recording your footage. There is an extra charge for this service. We do not record in 16mm; we only record to 35mm film.
